Waterfall

Water and Rock
becoming human blood and bone
I press myself against you now
my soul is yours to own

Power of rushing water
soul of granite rock
renew my endless thirst for you
for I have become lost

In worlds that don’t remember
ferns and moss beneath the feet
I prefer the shock of water
to the violence in the street

Where a woman is not safe to be
herself and free of fear
so I rest my case against you
I offer you these tears

And whisper here beneath your roar
if you have ears to hear
cleanse me of forgetfulness
remind me to be clear

And bring me for a moment
if only in my mind
the peace of rock and water, lost
beneath the edge of time
